That means bans are account-level and typically follow statistical anomalies or player reports, not real-time kernel checks. There is no hardware ban, so a new account is the practical reset.
How Path of Exile Detects Cheating
Path of Exile relies on server-side analytics and player reports rather than a client anti-cheat product. GGG logs loot generation, movement speed, damage output and instance join times, and flags accounts whose values sit outside expected ranges for their build and gear. Reports from other players in shared instances such as The Coast, The Mud Flats or maps with open portals add a manual review layer. Bans are account-level only, applied to the offending account and its linked email, not to the hardware. There is no kernel driver, no Secure Boot requirement and no spoofer needed, because nothing on the client is inspected for signatures.
Setup Specific to Path of Exile
Run Path of Exile in fullscreen windowed or windowed mode if you use an overlay, because exclusive fullscreen can cause the overlay to fail or the game to stutter on zone transitions. Overlays from Discord, Steam and GeForce Experience can conflict with loot filters and the in-game trade whisper, so disable any overlay that hooks DirectX before launch.
