Hunt: Showdown Cheat Reference and Anti-Cheat Behaviour
Hunt: Showdown uses Easy Anti-Cheat alongside server-side validation and a report-driven review process. Enforcement is account-level: EAC issues bans to the offending account, not to the hardware, so a new account is not automatically blocked by a previous ban. In practice this means cheat use is detected through a mix of client integrity checks, statistical review and player reports rather than hardware fingerprinting.
Detection and ban scope in Hunt
Easy Anti-Cheat runs as a kernel-level service and checks the game process for injected modules, modified memory and known cheat signatures. Server-side checks cover impossible fire rates, damage values and movement speeds that do not match the weapon or trait in use. Bans are applied to the account, not the machine, so a flagged account loses its Bloodline rank, traits and gear while the hardware remains usable. Crytek reviews reported clips manually, and a single clear report of wall tracking through a compound wall can result in a permanent account ban without a prior warning.
Launch setup for Hunt: Showdown
Run the game in fullscreen rather than borderless windowed, because borderless mode can cause stutter during compound fights and makes overlay injection more visible in capture. Discord, GeForce Experience and Steam overlays can conflict with the EAC handshake and should be disabled before launch. Secure Boot is not required for Hunt, and no spoofer is needed because bans are account-level. Launch through Steam or the Crytek launcher directly, and avoid starting any external tool after the EAC splash screen appears, as late injection is the most common cause of an immediate kick.
Useful features and plausible settings
Aim assist tuned to upper chest and neck is more useful than head-locking, because Hunt's weapons reward centre-mass hits at range and headshots through iron sights look unnatural on replay. ESP should show hunters only within around 80 metres and not through solid brick, as Lawful players use sound cues from birds, horses and chains to locate enemies. Recoil control suits the Winfield and Mosin at mid range but not the Romero at close quarters. Avoid tracking through walls on Lawson Delta and Stillwater Bayou, where sightlines are short and a wallbang looks like a report.
Where risk actually sits in Hunt
Hunt has no killcam, but it does have a post-match spectate option and a report flow that attaches the match ID, so a suspicious headshot through a fence in a single bounty hunt can be reviewed directly. Lobbies are small at twelve players, which makes statistical outliers obvious: a 40 per cent headshot rate on a fresh account stands out against the server average. Quickplay and Soul Survivor matches are shorter and easier to review. Tournament play and the higher Bloodline ranks attract manual review, and repeat reports from the same bracket are treated as a pattern rather than noise.
