Dead by Daylight Cheats: Detection, Setup, Features and Risk
Dead by Daylight uses Easy Anti-Cheat as its client-side anti-cheat, backed by server-side validation of game state. Enforcement is account-level: a detected cheat results in a permanent ban on the Steam, Epic or console account, not a hardware ban. Reports and manual review also feed into bans, so blatant behaviour can be actioned even without an EAC signature match.
How Dead by Daylight detects cheating
Easy Anti-Cheat runs alongside the Dead by Daylight client and checks for known cheat signatures, injected modules and tampered game files. Behavioural detection is also active: the server validates hit registration, movement speed, interaction times and skill-check results, so a survivor healing at 200% speed or a killer moving faster than their base speed will raise flags. Bans are account-level and permanent, applied to the Steam, Epic Games or platform account. Hardware bans are not standard, though repeat offenders and shared HWID patterns can attract additional scrutiny from Behaviour Interactive's support team.
Display mode and launch setup
Run Dead by Daylight in fullscreen rather than borderless windowed, because borderless can cause input lag that makes skill-check timing and lunge attacks feel inconsistent. Overlays from Discord, GeForce Experience and MSI Afterburner can conflict with EAC's module scanning; disable the in-game overlay components before launch and whitelist the game folder in any antivirus. Secure Boot is not required for Dead by Daylight under EAC, and a spoofer is unnecessary because bans are account-level rather than hardware-level. Launch the game through Steam or Epic after the cheat is loaded, not before.
Worthwhile features in the Fog
A survivor ESP showing killer proximity, totem auras and generator progress is the most valuable feature, because Dead by Daylight's core loop is information asymmetry. Skill-check automation set to hit great skill checks with a realistic delay looks like competent play, whereas perfect timing every time is obvious. A killer aura reader for survivor positions and hook states is useful, but avoid chase-speed multipliers or instant pallet breaks, which are easy to spot in the post-trial results screen. Subtle wallhacks that show a survivor only when they are within 24 metres read as good game sense on maps like Coldwind Farm or Léry's Memorial Institute.
Where the realistic risk lies
Dead by Daylight has no killcam or replay system, so direct visual evidence of cheating is limited to spectating after death. A survivor who dies can spectate the killer and report suspicious tracking through the in-game report flow, and Behaviour Interactive reviews flagged matches manually. Small lobbies of five players mean a single report carries weight, and statistical outliers such as a 95% great skill-check rate or a killer landing every lunge across ten trials will attract attention. Ranked play and tournament lobbies carry the highest review priority, so limit obvious features in red-rank matches.
