Dark and Darker relies on server-side validation and player reports rather than a named kernel anti-cheat. The backend logs damage events, movement deltas, loot pickups and extraction timings, and anomalous patterns such as perfect headshot ratios through walls or impossible sprint speeds are flagged for review. Bans are account-level: the account is closed and its stash, gear and gold are lost. Hardware bans have been applied in waves for repeated offenders, but they are not automatic and are inconsistently enforced. There is no client-side scanner comparable to BattlEye or EasyAntiCheat, so detection is retrospective and driven by evidence rather than pre-launch blocking.

The realistic risk in Dark and Darker comes from the spectating and death-cam flow. When you kill a player, they can watch your remaining raid, and unnatural pre-aim through a wall or a perfect headshot on a target you never saw is obvious in a five-minute clip. Small lobbies in the Goblin Caves and the Crypt make repeat encounters likely, so a single suspicious player is remembered across matches. Reports go through the in-game flow and are reviewed manually with match logs, and statistical outliers such as a 90 percent headshot rate over fifty raids or extraction times that beat the map's geometry will trigger review even without a report.
